YBT250 Options Installation
Measurement options are enabled by entering an Options key. An
Options key is a coded text string that is tied to the serial number and Global ID of the
instrument module.
To install a new Options key:
-
Start up the YBT250 application on the NetTek.
-
From the YBT250 application menu bar, select Tools > Upgrade Software and follow
the on-screen instructions on the NetTek (Note: Use the Install with only a key
upgrade method). The YBT250 application will close when the options installation is
completed.
-
The YBT250 is now ready to use. To start the application double-click the YBT250 icon on
the NetTek desktop, or select Start > Programs > NetTek > YBT250.
-
Once the YBT250 application is running. Verify that the correct options are installed by
selecting Tools > Software Info on the application menu bar.
-
Place the label supplied with this kit on the bottom edge of your YBT250 module.
YBT250 Software Installation
Two methods are provided for installing the YBT250 software on your NetTek.
The Serial Connection method allows installation using a standard RS-232 serial
(NetTek Y350C and Y400) or USB serial (NetTek Y400 only) connection between a host PC and the
NetTek. The Archive File method allows
installation from a PC memory card installed in the NetTek.
Note
that regardless of which platform is used when performing the upgrade, once it
is completed the YBT250 module will function properly when used on either the
Y350C or Y400 NetTek platform.
YBT250 Software Installation using a serial connection
-
See the Serial
Connection Considerations section for details on ensuring the serial link between the host workstation and NetTek Analyzer
platform will function correctly.
-

several minutes, but enables future power-ups to occur faster.
-
Once the application is installed, it will launch. Verify that the version number for the
software on the splash screen matches the version on the YBT250 CD-ROM.
-
Place the label supplied with this kit on the bottom edge of your YBT250 module.
YBT250 Software Installation using an archive file
-
Archive files are provided for performing the upgrade using either the Y350C or
Y400 NetTek platform. The Upgrade\Archive\Y350C\YBT250Y_upgrade_v1-415.arq
file is that which is used to install the YBT250 software when performing the
upgrade using a Y350C NetTek
platform. The Upgrade\Archive\Y400\YBT250K_upgrade_v1-415.arq file is that which is used to install the
YBT250 software when performing the upgrade using a Y400 NetTek platform. Copy the correct archive file to a PC
memory card.

software on the splash screen matches the version on the YBT250 CD-ROM.
-
Place the label supplied with this kit on the bottom edge of your YBT250 module.
Serial
Connection Considerations
The software
installation process requires an RS232 or USB serial connection
between the NetTek Analyzer platform and the desktop PC. Note that if the
desktop PC's RS232 or USB serial interface has already been configured to use Windows
CE Services or Active Sync then it must first be disabled prior to starting the YBT250
software installation.
To disable serial connections in Windows CE Services perform the following
steps:
-
Right-click on the CE Services icon on the desktop PC system tray; then
select Communications.
-
In the Windows CE Services Properties dialog box, open the Communications
tab.
-
In the Device Connections via Serial Port field, deselect Enabled.
(Enable mobile device connection must already be selected to make
this selection).
-
Select OK and close the dialog box.
To disable serial connections in Active Sync perform the following steps:
-
Right-click on the Active Sync icon on the desktop PC system tray; then
select Connection Settings.
-
In the Connection Settings dialog box, deselect the Allow serial
cable or infrared connection to this COM port and Allow USB connection
with this desktop computer checkbox's.
-
Select OK to close the dialog box.
Note that once the software installation process has been completed the Windows CE Services
or Active Sync serial connection should be re-enabled.
